Hundreds of U.S. Army and other services personnel are at the Marriott Convention Center in Augusta Monday through Thursday for TechNet, where the integration of cyberspace, electronic warfare and intelligence capabilities is explored. Symposium sessions cover cyber and electronic warfare, workforce training and doctrine. Over at the NCS booth, the most popular areas for discussion so far this week include the various aspects of rugged computing - notebooks, servers, tablets and wearables. NCS is the largest reseller of Getac rugged solutions around! At TechNet, the new MX50 battle ready, fully secure wearable tablet is getting a lot of attention.

Symposium sessions are covering cyber and electronic warfare, workforce training and doctrine. Attendees are visiting NCS Booth #514 today to explore IT security. Visitors are particularly interested in several topics, including rugged computing and how to best implement VDI. In upcoming blogs we will more deeply discuss these hot topics! Already this morning we are hearing about IT needs involving desktop virtualization - for improving manageability, driving down cost of ownership and improving security. In all of these metrics, zero clients from NCS Technologies outperform thin clients from the Tier One PC vendors.

Broad NCS Technology Portfolio in Demand at Symposium

The NCS Booth at the Defense Health Information Technology Symposium (DHITS) was active all week and we were delighted to continue our many discussions with our service-related healthcare customers. Defense Health Agency (DHA) is a joint integrated Combat Support Agency that enables the Army, Navy, and Air Force medical services to provide a medically ready force and ready medical force to Combatant Commands in both peacetime and wartime.

At the symposium NCS highlighted our solutions portfolio, including VDI, Getac rugged PCs and servers, a rugged medical tablet, medical carts, and rugged cabinets.

NCS Supports US Naval Academy

Earlier this week, the US Naval Academy took delivery of four 53-foot-trailer loads of HP laptop computers, accessories, HP printers and Hyundai monitors to support the upcoming Issue Day for the USNA Class of 2021 Plebes.

With close coordination from USNA Midshipmen Store staff, NCS designed and provided a configuration for the more than 1200 issue kits. This enabled the Midshipmen Store staff, with the assistance of NCS personnel (Doug Eacker, Karen Jenkins, Rick Goodman, Gerardo Trinidad, Darrell Patterson and David Snyder, in the second photo below) to accomplish a much more efficient delivery and setup of the product than in years past. This also resulted in a more efficient review and acceptance by the Plebe class. The USNA Mid Store staff and Business Services Division staff were very pleased at the increased efficiency and speed in which this very large project was accomplished.

NCS is delighted to have the privilege of supporting the next class of our nation’s and allied partner nation’s Naval and Marine Corps officers. The level of customer service, attention to detail and dedication to our customer’s mission shown on this project is just another day at NCS.

We are happy to report crowded aisles and steady traffic at the NCS booth, #608, where Joe Guest, Matt Cooke and Linda Letosky are on hand.

NCS is promoting much of its solutions portfolio, including end-to-end virtual networking, Getac rugged PCs and servers, medical carts, and rugged cabinets.

So far, much of the booth activity has centered on understanding how best to jump into VDI, or virtualizing the desktop.

VMware User Group USERCON, Indianapolis

VMUG UserCon at the Indiana Convention Center wrapped up Tuesday as one of the larger VMware User Group regional events. As is typical of many of the larger meetings, there were hundreds in attendance. Traffic at the vendor tables was steady all day, and IT managers with broad virtualization experience asked thoughtful questions and probed with incisive enquiries about VDI, or desktop virtualization performance.

It was striking how many NCS Technologies table visitors said that 2018 is going to be "the year of VDI" or "the year we are going to virtualize". Attendees were hungry for the latest information about VDI and many asked about differences between thin client desktops and zero clients.

Our booth staff, including Matt and Joe, demonstrated a broad portfolio of notebook and desktop PCoIP zero clients from NCS. They were able to cite use cases from our many customers in North America and around the world, how these customers are improving manageability, driving down cost of ownership and improve security.

VMware User Group USERCON, Indianapolis

Today is one of the larger gatherings of VMware users, the annual Indianapolis VMUG UserCon at the Indiana Convention Center. VMUGs attract sophisticated IT managers quite comfortable with the ins and outs of virtualization, and the Indy VMUG is no exception. A fair amount of those walking the aisles still need to understand the differences between thin clients and zero clients, or to better understand how zero clients fit into their desktop virtualization strategies. Our booth staff, including Matt and Joe, are happy to talk about how NCS zero clients are improving manageability, driving down cost of ownership and improving security in desktop installations all over North America, Europe and Down Under.

In one of the larger VMware-themed events on the East Coast, hundreds of VMware users are gathering together Wednesday at the Philadelphia VMUG UserCon, held at King of Prussia, PA. VMware users go to network with fellow users, to attend educational sessions, to see the most innovative VMware ecosystem solutions and to experience product demonstrations first hand. A frequent goal at VMUG events is to explore how zero clients fit into desktop virtualization strategies. High up on many lists are the IT needs for improving manageability, driving down cost of ownership and improving security. In all of these metrics, zero clients from NCS Technologies outperform thin clients from the Tier One PC vendors.
