The View From NCS Technologies

Workplace Virtualization Delivers at El Camino Hospital

I recommend viewing a brief webinar that I informally call "real world desktop virtualization". It was offered recently via BrightTALK and can also be found and replayed on the Teradici website at http://goo.gl/OX5tFp. The webinar is entitled "Learn how world class El Camino Hospital improved end user experience with VDI." shiny_desk_cirrus_resized.jpg

Mike Turicchi of NCS joined Teradici's Mirela Cunjalo for a super-informative discussion packed with "news you can use" information. In addition, the hospital Director of Technical Services, James Brummett, is an articulate ambassador for "Best IT Practices". James walks you through the "before and after" of life in a highly sophisticated Silicon Valley hospital where staff, patients and visitors are ulta-knowledgeable and demanding concerning technology capabilities.

Before El Camino Hospital implemented desktop virtualization, daily use of computers was a treadmill of nurses and doctors having inconsistent and poor quality experiences. The staff dealt with complicated remote access, complex IT support scenarios, manageability headaches and poor IT security. In the webinar James takes you through a "workday in the life of a nurse" using computing resources, going from nursing stations to quiet rooms to bedsides, and how inefficient the computing experience used to be.

After implementing VDI, El Camino Hospital now delivers a consistent user experience across virtualized devices, a quality user experience via a refreshed "gold master image" delivered each work day, easier remote access, improved manageability and tighter security.

An important driver of these improvements is the ability to use Teradici's Tera2 PCoIP protocol technology in the data center and on the client side. Teradici's technology helps improve performance, deliver an outstanding user experience and lower total cost of ownership.

El Camino Hosptial used the NCS Cirrus LT zero client laptop and is trying out our new Cirrus LT Plus and Cirrus DT WiFi zero client products, as well as zero clients from other companies. His shop is BYOD, with Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android happily and seamlessly supported. It's the real world and his hospital is proving to be world class in the heart of American technological innovation.

In this heavily competitive environment, NCS desktop virtualization solutions are making the grade. The staff uses many of the popular form factors and brands, yet there is still a need for secure, high-quality NCS zero client laptops and desktops to improve the work experience. While BYOD happens, the truth is the highest performance, most secure VDI experience is delivered by Tera2 PCoIP-enabled hardware, like the NCS Cirrus zero client product line.

Learn for yourself! I invite you to listen to the webinar ( http://goo.gl/OX5tFp ). And also check out this very visual, two-page brochure that shows all the places NCS zero clients can fit into a workspace like healthcare! Download the brochure to learn more!
